Theatre performance in benefit of Children of Mexico!

Fact: 63% of the Mexican population under 18 lives in poverty

Despite its fast economic growth and macroeconomic stability, Mexico is one of the countries with the deepest unequal distribution of resources.

According to the National Household Income and Expenditure Survey (ENIGH), 63% of the population under 18 faces poverty and lives in marginalized communities with less than $2usd per day.

Most of these children face, since their early years, deficient housing and poor nutrition. A National Nutrution Survey carried out by the Ministry of Health in 1999 showed that almost one in every five children under five suffer from chronic malnutrition.

Moreover, due to the inappropiate home environment where, among others, children face sexual abuse, violence and/or indifference from their family, children stop going to school and start working. Acording to the National Institute of Statistics, Geography and Information Technology (INEGI), 2.1 million children between 5 and 14 do not attend school and 3.3 million children work.
