About us
Stichting Children of Mexico emerged as the result of a dream whereby I envisioned Mexican people living abroad committed to fight against many of the problems that still haunt the Mexican society.
In the year 2002, after working in UNICEF and Proniños in Mexico, I moved to the Netherlands. Once in the Netherlands I came to realise that Mexico is not a priority country for receiving international cooperation funds; that there are lots of Mexican people living abroad that would like to do more for Mexico and do not know how; and that some people and good projects in Mexico need our help NOW and we cannot turn our back to them.
With this in mind I decided to start a project to gather the spirit of all Mexicans and non-Mexicans living in Holland, companies and organizations, to invest in the capacity building of professional organizations in Mexico that work with the most vulnerable children and communities in the country.
Through hard work and the involvement of young professional leaders, what started as a dream has become a reality. This is only the beginning. The dream goes further and there is still a lot to do. We are sure that working hard and with the support of many people like you, whom also dream of a world free of poverty we can achieve a lot. However, to dream is not enough. Acting is compulsory.
